Cavern near Fort Bodzów.In the vicinity of this Austrian fort you can find no less than six big caverns drilled in solid rock at the beginning of the First World War. They were meant as ammunition depots and safe shelters for the crew. This particular one is located on the east side of the hill, by an abandoned quarry; its entrance hall measures 6 by 15 meters. # • Added to the gallery on Apr 3, 2007 • File size: 4.3 MB • Views: 15265 ( #43) Ruins of a fort on the Mogilskie Roundabout in Kraków.Bastion no. 5 "Lubicz" was built to the east from the city centre in 1861-1866. Gradually modernized, it stood there until 1950 when it was partially demolished and levelled while constructing a road leading to the new industrial district of Nowa Huta. The ruins, hidden underground for over 50 years, were uncovered in 2006 when the roundabout was being rebuilt. Conservation efforts were finished in December 2008. # • Added to the gallery on Jan 5, 2009 • File size: 2.2 MB • Views: 9508 ( #206) Astronomical Observatory of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. # • Added to the gallery on May 21, 2007 • File size: 2.0 MB • Views: 9113 ( #226) Monument on Kaim Hill.Kaim Hill, between Bieżanów and Wieliczka, was the westernmost place that Russian troops managed to take during their attack on Kraków in 1914.
