360 :: a spherical panoramic journey in 1352 pieces

In the vicinity of this Austrian fort you can find no less than six big caverns drilled in solid rock at the beginning of the First World War. They were meant as ammunition depots and safe shelters for the crew. This particular one is located on the east side of the hill, by an abandoned quarry; its entrance hall measures 6 by 15 meters.

This abandoned quarry, less than 3 kilometres away from the Kraków Main Square, is a popular place for walking and biking while local climbers prefer its vertical limestone walls :).

This huge quarry that provided limestone to the Kraków Soda Plant was abandoned in 1990 and as water wasn't being pumped out any more, it gradually filled the basin reaching over 30 metres of depth.
